an over looked HC low level area
Hi All,
In my low level experience I have found very few frustrating areas to deal with as when (HC) Scout sent me on to investigate exactly what Gorg was doing in Cross Blades in a strange basement delivering dragon eggs, in one of the houses north of the Persistent Bank. I made my way to the house and noticed what drew (HC) Scout's attention to this place. There were wyrmlings flying around and well learning how to fly. Being inexperienced flyers helped me deal with them quickly before they could sound the alarm.
As I entered the strange house, once again I encountered some odd flying beast, but apparently I was as strange to them as they were to me, because they did not recognize me for the threat I was to them. Just like the outside creatures, the inside ones found an end to life as I rammed my blade through the creatures organs. Once again, their lack of threat assessment failed to spread any word of my presence.
As I entered into the last room on the top floor, it was my turn to encounter something unexpected. The room had 3 colored lights over the whole middle of the room. Along the room's 4 walls were levers intersecting with each other sending an imaginary line dividing through each light in the middle. I soon realized by touching a lever, I caused the lights to shift or the line to move one square closer to the lever I pulled. The light that was closed to me disappeared and reappeared at the end of the line, closest to the lever opposite me. it took me most of the day testing, but I finally found by putting the singular color in the center of the lights and having the 8 other lights being two to the North East West and South of the singular light, forming a +, causing a portal opened, similar to the ones that appear in the portal planes. Fearing my presence was revealed by the missing creatures, I hurried through to find the reason Gorg was using this house for.
The basement was my second surprise so far. It was an underground river docking station!! Gorg was using this area to start a place to hatch dragons to threaten all of our existences!! As I walked along I encountered a few small day old dragons and I encountered the largest dragon, except Sling's dragon, i had yet encountered. Fortunately for me this young dragon did not have the power of a name yet and i was able after a while slay the week old dragon. After that fight, I kept my eyes open and kept looking for the dragons eggs that (HC) Scout sent me to destroy.
After thinking I had cleared the place I learned the error of my thinking. i ran into the eggs protector, a humanoid being that did not speak as he drew his blade and charged me. The smile on my face as we engaged weapons was quickly removed. This being had been trained to hold his own against one such as my self:a foe who used weapons to kill. we circled each other for 30 minutes dueling back and forth, neither one of us able to draw any amount of blood from the other. When i was lucky enough to get a blow through a lapse in defense, his magic was able to undue the damage by the time i was able to deal a second blow. That was my playbook, and he was stuck in the same place I was, a standoff. Lucky for me, (HC) Scout got worried and he sent someone to check on me, and together we were able to defeat him. We explored the one section of the dock i was unable to solo, and discovered 6 ready to hatch dragon eggs. My (HC) brother and I cracked and destroyed the elderkind eggs. I picked up an an Ice Talon dagger (+2 +1d6 cold damage) from my foe and two 50 temporary HP buff items called "dragon crushed knuckle" or "dragon powdered knuckle".
