The Level 20 Rush

The world of 12 dark secrets is deep, immersive and challenging with a new secret behind every door. But much of the world lies far beyond the reach of low level players and wandering into the wrong part of town can mean instant death for the unprepared. Achieving level 20 quickly and efficiently is the best way to open up the world for yourself as you start your 12ds journey. And while I'm not much of an Endgame player I have lots of experience with what I call the level 20 rush.

Level 1-5: at this level you will want to stick to the Eastlands and docks areas. If possible ask other players for some buffs. Their temporary buffs such as bard songs, spells or wish enhancements will allow you to run through the Eastland gaining a few levels in quick succession. Remember that resting will remove these temporary buffs.

In the docks there are a few profitable quests. Fetching fish to sell to the merchant for 50 gold each. Taking care of a loose jaguar in the hold of one of the ships and most importantly diving to retrieve the Kelina Under's clothes from the shark infested waters below the docks. This will require a ring of water breathing which can be acquired as a reward for another of the docks quests. Retrieving Kelina's clothes will give you a large amount of experience and 2000 gold. Using buffs from other players can help you kill the sharks which grant lots of xp at low levels but if that is not available purchase some potions of invisibility so you at least get the quest rewards.

Level 6-10: at this level you should continue doing Kelina's quest at the docks whenever it is available. You should also begin your quest for the 12 dark secrets which will take you across the main world map and familiarize yourself with the world as you gain xp and gold. Some additional areas to explore are the village of Doth on the road from TCWaN and Crossed Blades, the abandoned city north of the eastlands and the bandits camps in the southland.

Level 10-20: at this level you should seek out Carlson the Clever, a bandit leader who lives in the bandit caves on the forest road south of Southfield. He will give the you the location of a secret entrance to a series of crystal caves guarded by fearsome minotaurs. These caves are by far the best way to quickly level up from lvl 10 to level 20. Each crystal gaurdian or keeper grants close to 500 xp which does not decrease as you level up. Farm these caves as often as possible but beware the boss in the deeper caves as he may be too much for you to handle at lower levels.

The other thing you should be doing at these levels is continuing your search for the 12 dark secrets by following the quests given to you by the great owl. By doing this you will be ready to start your conquest of the elderkind planes when you complete the level 20 rush.
