Adventurer's Advice Part 2
Welcome Seasoned Adventurer,
So, you made it all the way to level 20 and now you are only keeping Epic XP! This guide will attempt to coach you to level 40. This task comes with some challenges and some help. One of the challenges is finding an area that you can survive but still gives Epic XP. This will continue until level 40. Some areas stop giving Epic XP as the characters level up. Some of these areas give lots of Epic XP at one level and then “Poof” nothing just one level higher. Some however decrease a bit each level. I will attempt to differentiate for you.
There are many ways to help make your character stronger without leveling up. First, run through the Plane of Elderkind and collect young Elderkind claws. Assuming you have completed the 12 Secrets, take 30 Young Elderkind Claws to Slings Dragon in the tavern in Crossed Blades. Have a conversation with the dragon and ask to be sent to the speaker planes. The transport to the first plane costs 5 claws and you can loot EXACTLY one item from the chest. This first plane offers an assortment of Amulets. Choose wisely and use the portal to return to the dragon. The second plane offers Rings and costs 10 claws for the transport. Finally, the 3rd speaker plane costs 15 claws and offers a variety of weapons. Now some of these may be an upgrade and some may not. Choose wisely and return to the dragon.
Another feature of this realm that makes it easier to take the fight to the Elderkind is the Wish system. There are many books in the library that give full instructions on how the wishes work. To summarize, wishes can be bought for gold, or earned for certain tasks, and then used to increase your stats as you see fit up to a base stat of 40. There are even Greater Wishes that can advance a stat all the way to 50 at level 1. Read those books and check out the calculator to see how many wishes you may need to get that stat where you want it.
There are couple more items that will assist you on your quests. A keeper stone provides implosion immunity and is usually gathered with the aid of a higher level character, or at least a character that is already implosion immune. The Armor from the Tree of Life will come in handy. Make friends with an HC character and have them gather 5 of the waters from the Temple of the Firstborn. Take these to the Treefriend and GIVE them to her. She will reward your generosity with a suit of armor of your choice. Choose wisely. This armor can also be upgraded with Demon items and even further at the Celestial Smithy.
Bards in this World can be a powerful addition to your hunting party. A skilled bard can provide regeneration, energy resistance, spell resistance, increase attack bonus, and many more buffs just by singing their songs. If you face an area that is a bit tough for you, see if a bard is nearby and ask them to serenade you to success.
Finally, one of the easiest ways to gather more Epic XP is to leech. The higher-level characters love to have folks tag along. The adventures on this realm are awesome like that. Keep an eye on party chat where folks are doing Underworld Runs. These and Giants will get you some good Epic XP and low risk with the Paragons leading the battle with you. If they offer to take you on an Underworld “Key” run, take them up on the offer. Each of the areas of Underworld drops an item that is a key to the next level in UW. WARNING: one of the areas will require you to give up some XP to get the key. The same statue that gives you the key, will also offer you some other upgrade items. I recommend reading the books on the Demon Items and see which ones you may desire. If you spend your XP when you are close to level 20 and drop below level 20, then you will get regular and Epic XP until you get back to level 20.
A word on Epic XP; Epic XP seems to hit for EVERY player in the area, regardless of the distance from the kill. SO, it is possible to barely step into an area and gather all the Epic XP for all the kills that happen while you are there. Please be sure to ask the person running the area if it is ok for you to be there. It’s just common courtesy. If the player doing the killing offers loot, loot what they offer. When you can run these Epic XP areas solo, be sure to return the favor to lower level characters. It’s how the community continues.
The summaries below are based on NO wishes and single class character. I generally cycle through these areas until I stop getting Epic XP or until I can handle the more difficult and more rewarding areas. Explore some new areas every time you level up, you may be surprised as to how effective you are in the new area. Mileage may vary, Void where prohibited by law. (Epic XP Per kill)
